Adeline Viola (Kragnes) Askelson was born September 17, 1910, in Kragnes, Minnesota, to Bernard and Bertha (Espeland) Kragnes.

When Adeline was a child, she moved with her family to Wadena, Saskatchewan, Canada, and later returned to the Kragnes area where the family farmed. She was a graduate of Moorhead High School, Moorhead, MN.

On June 30, 1932, Adeline was united in marriage to Earnie Askelson in Glyndon, MN. They farmed in the Ada area until 1968 when they moved to Loveland, CO. Earnie died on October 16, 1996. After his passing, Adeline continued to live in Loveland until 2003, when she then became a resident of Windsor, CO.

Adeline was a homemaker, loved gardening, and was very much appreciated for her cooking, canning and Norwegian specialties. Photo memories were a very important part of her life. She was a loving spouse, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who took great interest in the activities of her family.

Adeline died Monday, September 27, 2004, in Windsor, at the age of 94. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, one sister, Lucilla “Lola” Anderson; two brothers, Lloyd and Alvin Kragnes.

She is survived by one daughter, Karol Egbert and husband John of Loveland, and their children Bradley and Kimberly; three sons, Arlie and wife Ardys of Indian Hills, CO. and their children Erik and Kirk, Dennis and wife Raschanee of Alameda, CA. and their children Steven and Douglas, Bernie and wife Jill of Pelican Lake, MN. and their children Brenda Hayer and Beth Moran. Also survived by brother Bernard Kragnes and wife Mildred of Glyndon, MN, sister Olive Brantner of Moorhead, MN, sister-in-law Jenness Kragnes of Fargo, ND; and eleven great-grandchildren.

Adeline’s funeral was conducted in Loveland on September 30, 2004, and she was laid to rest with her husband Earnie in the Loveland Burial Park.
