John Schad, 82, died today at 10 a.m. at the home of daughter, Mrs. Louise Strunck, 1400 Pirl Street. He had been ill for more than 3 months. Mr. Schad was an iron puddler here for many years and had many friends in the community. He was born in Johnstown, June 26, 1850 [sic should be 1855]. He is survived by his wife Marie K. Manewal-Schad; three daughters, Mrs. Minnie Nehr [sic Neher], of Glassport; Mrs. Rose Breakall [sic Brakeall], of Dravosburg, and Mrs. Strunck; one brother in Germany and 3 sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Friedel, Mrs. Jacob Nagel, and Mrs. Mary Galbreath, all of Johnstown. Twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held at the late home Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock in charge of the Rev. E.A. Ortner. Interment will be at Versailles cemetery."
