CHAPEL HILL -- Emma Estes Cobb, wife of the late Collier Cobb Jr., died Sunday, Dec. 10, at the age of 95. A native of Pittsylvania County, VA., Mrs. Cobb was a graduate of Chatham Hall, Chatham, VA and Randolph-Macon Woman's College, Lynchburg, VA. She married Collier Cobb in 1925 and moved to Chapel Hill, where she became active in the civic and religious life of the community.
At the time of her death, she was a member of the Chapel of the Cross (Episcopal), the William C. Coker Garden Club and the National Society of the Colonial Dames in the State of North Carolina.
Surviving are a son, Collier Cobb III and his wife, Carolyn of Chapel Hill; and a daughter, Nancy Cobb Lilly and her husband Edward G. Lilly of Raleigh; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Altar Guild of the Chapel of the Cross, Chapel Hill 27514; the Friends of the Library, Davis Library, UNC-CH, Chapel Hill 27512-8890; or a charity of one's choice.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Dec. 12, at 2 PM at the Chapel of the Cross, 304 E. Franklin St. The family will receive friends and relatives in the Parish Hall adjoining the church after the service.
