Abbie was born in Franklinton, Louisiana where her father was the Methodist minister for the Franklinton-Mount Hermon charge. Her Mother, Irene Leticia Gibson Flowers, and her little brother Albert "Buddy" Flowers died 3 days apart in September of 1895, near Jackson, Louisiana.
She lived with her Aunt Minnie Longmire near Gloster, MS for at least a few years. We are not sure of the dates or where she lived when she finished high school. Some notes imply that she spent some time at finishing/business school in Mansfield, Louisiana.
She married Claude Ogburn in 1919 and they had one child, Annie Irene. She was active in Fifth Street Methodist Church as a Sunday school teacher and in all facets of church life. She was also active in WCTU (Women's Christian Temperance Union) and numerous bible studies.
She died suddenly of an aneurism at her home 3318 Davis Street in Meridian. She is survived by her daughter Irene Ogburn Gray (Robert) of Wooster, Ohio, step-son William Ogburn of Meridian, step-daughters Ina Maye Ogburn Bishop (Allen) of Meridian, and Bessie Ogburn Smith of Vicksburg. She is also survived by grandchildren; Bobby Gray stationed with the US Army in Seoul, Korea, and Gary, Bill, and Joel Gray of Wooster, Ohio, and Al Bishop (Julia) of Houston, Texas.
Services were held at Webb Funeral Home followed by burial at Rose Hill Cemetery.
