Obit Of Allen Alonzo Massey
Tate County Record Alphaba: May 18, 1900 Died: Mr Allen Massey, one of the first white settlers in this vicinity departed this life the 9th inst. was born in Lancaster District S C February 20th, 1817, came to Mississippi about 50 years ago, was a member of the Presbyterian Church, leaves 7 children and a host of grand children and friends to mourn his loss, aged 83, and buried at Perry Church, Rev W A Cook, of Senatobia, preached the funeral and held the burial services. R A Jones and L P Miller, of Coldwater, attended the burial. Mrs Julia Brigance, daughter of the deceased, of Miller's Station, left for home last Friday after spending several days at the bedside of her father in his last illness.

Last Will And Testament Allen Alonzo Massey Tate Co, MS Probate Last Will of A A Massey State of Mississippi, Tate County Know all persons by these presents that I Allen Alonzo Massey resident of the County of Tate and State of Mississippi being of sound mind and memory. I make and constitute this my last will and Testament in lieu of all other wills heretofore made by me either written or verbal. 1st I will my body to the dust from whence it came. 2nd I will that all of my just debts together with my Doctor bills and burial expenses be first paid. 3rd I will to my children as follows: Martha Alexander, David G Massey, Julia Brigants, Ophelia Hurt, William and Clarence Massey each Five Dollars in money or its equivalent. 4th I will to my Daughters Nancy and Alenia Massey all the balance of my earthly affects both real and personal the Realty being discarded as follows: South West 1/4 Quarter of Section six (6) Town Four (4) Range six (6) containing 160 acres also south half of Northeast Quarter of section six (6) Town Four (4) Range six (6) containing eighty (80) acres to have and to own and hold to them the said Nancy and Allenia Equally during their natural lives and if one them die before the other without children then her interest goes to the other and if both should die without children then the aforesaid property shall be equally divided between my first named children. I further more will that my sons William and Clarence Massey one or both of them should live with their sisters Nancy and Alenia and look after their interest and use the proceeds of the place for their mutual benefit as circumstances may require. I hereby nominate and appoint my sons David and William Massey Executors of this my last will and testament and request that they shall not be required to give bond or security for the performance of same and request that they have as little to do with the Courts as possible. Signed in the presents of this 9 day of March 1897.

Harwell ) R E Kirby ) State of Mississippi, Tate County) In the matter of the probate of a certain instrument of writing purporting to be the last will and testament of A A Massey deceased. Be it remembered that on this the 15th day of Sept 1900 personally appeared before me Sam J House Clerk of the Chancery Court for said County Dr J J Kirby a subscribing witness to a certain instrument of writing proportion to be the last will and testament of A A Massey late of said Tate County deceased bearing the date of the 9th day of March 1897. Who on oath says deposed and said that said A A Massey signed published and declared said instrument to be his last will and testament in the presence of said deponent on the day of the date thereof that said testator was then of sound disposing mind and memory and more than twenty one years of age and that said deponent subscribed said instrument as witness thereto at the instance and request and in the presence of said testator on the day and year aforesaid.
