Marcus L. Isbill, age 70 years and 6 months, died at his home in Morganton last Thursday at 5 p.m. He was an old Confederate soldier and served for ? years in the Civil War. He was a highly esteemed and much respected citizen of Morganton; everyone who knew him was his friend. A large number of friends and relatives attended his funeral to show their last respects, and there were many beautiful flowers brought by his sorrowing friends. Rev. D.M. Kerr, of Greenback, preached his funeral and had charge of the services at Morganton Cemetery where the deceased was buried. He was a consecrated Christian gentleman, he having joined the Baptist Church when quite young. His surviving family have our sympathy in their sad hour of bereavement.
