Murel James Burdett, 87, Springfield, Mo., died October 10, 2008, in Missouri Veteran's Home, Mt. Vernon, Mo. He was born July 17, 1921, in Pleasant Hope, Mo. Murel was a veteran of World War II. He married Marjorie Cates Burdett, who passed away May 1, 2001. They had been married for 48 years. He was also preceded in death by his mother, Effie Burdett; father, Price Burdett; and brother, Gulie Burdett. Survivors include two daughters, Marsha and Steve Kitterman, Linda Killingsworth and Norman Flippo; grandchildren, Cindy Justice, Mindy Latham and husband, Robert, Kris Kitteman, and Kelly Shedd and husband, Jason; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, October 13, 2008, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home North. The family wishes to thank the staff of Missouri Veteran's Home for the care they gave for the past seven years.
