CAMPBELL Horace Harold Campbell, 93, died Thursday, July 13, 2000 at the Hermitage Methodist Home in Richmond after a long illness. He was born December 26, 1906 on Mulberry Island, now Ft. Eustis. Mr. Campbell attended the College of William and Mary. He served in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant, assigned to the Headquarters Battery and the 69th Division Artillery. He retired from the civil service at Ft. Lee. He was a member of the American Legion Post #2 and attended Ginter Park BaptistChurch. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mrs. Martha Louise Campbell Jones Bass. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Mrs. Claudia V. Campbell of St. Paul, Minn.; his nieces and nephews, Mrs. Greig Campbell Sheldon of Newport News, Mrs. Martha Madison Lewey of Hilton Head Island, S.C., Mrs. Betty W. Hendrickson of Richmond, Mrs. Helen Bass Whitehead of Richmond, Mr. William Cooke Jones of Mechanicsville, Mr. Hugh Campbell Jones of Mechanicsville. Mr. Alexander Jones of Durham, N.C., Dr. Alfred Jones of Charleston, S.C., Mr. William M. Bass of Rice, Mr. E.L. Campbell of Rutherfordton, N.C., Mr. Dan O. Madison, Northport, Ala., and Mr. Richard Madison of Alabama. A graveside service will be held Monday, July 17, 2000 at Lebanon Church ofChrist Cemetery, Newport News, Va., at 11 a.m., conducted by Rev. Dennis Worsham. The family has requested that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Heritage Home, 1600 Westwood Ave., Richmond, Va. 23227, in memory of Horace Harold Campbell. Arrangements are by Weymouth Funeral Home, Newport News. Va.
