Paul L. Pearson Jr. age 86, of Carterville, Mo, passed away Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008, at his home following a prolonged illness.

Paul was born April 20, 1922, in Carterville and had lived in Carterville most of his life. Paul founded Custom Electronics Engineering Co in Joplin in 1958, and Midwestern Telephone Co. in Carterville in 1972, serving as chairman of the board until his retirement in 2005. Paul graduated from Carterville High School and had served on the Carterville City Council. He also served on the Board of the North American Telephone Association in the early 1970s.

Paul was married to Geraldine "Jerry" Morgan Feb. 11, 1942, in Carterville, and she survives. Additional survivors include a daughter, Karalee Miller and husband, Donald, Webb City, Mo; two sons, Paul Pearson III and wife, Betty and Tim Pearson and partner, Jim Josue all, of Carterville; two grandchildren, Don Miller II and wife, Kelly and Molly Gilbert and husband, Zachary; and three great-grandchildren, twins Addison and Alexandra Miller and Kaylyn Gilbert. Paul was preceded in death by a brother, Harry W. Pearson.

Private Memorial Services were held Saturday at the Hedge-Lewis Chapel in Webb City with Chaplain Danny Mullins officiating. Memorial contributions are requested to the Carterville Volunteer Fire Department in care of the Funeral Home. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hedge-Lewis Funeral Home of Webb City.
