Ervy Haley
Ervy Haley, second son of Albert and Maude haley, was born near Sparks, Nebr., March 8, 1897, and departed this life at the Sandhills General Hospital in Valentine on Dec 25, 1964. At the time of his death he was 67 years, nine months, and 17 days.
The first 12 years of his life he lived near Sparks. In 1909, his parents moved to Missouri, residing there two years, returning to the Sparks community in 1911.
On April 25, 1917, he was united in marriage to Ida Irene Sharp. To this union eight children (three sons and five daughters) were born.
After his marriage the family spent 19 years farming and ranching aroung the Sparks and Valentine area. In March, 1936, he and his family moved near Millboro, S. D., where he continued farming and ranching.
In September, 1963, due to ill health, he was compelled to leave the farm and enter the hospital. On Dec. 3, 1963, he suffered a stroke and since this time had been and invalid. For the past year Mr. and Mrs. Haley resided in Valentine.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, a son, one brother, and his parents. Surviving are his wife, Ida, and six children, Mrs. Mildred Langston of Valentine, Donald of Winner, S. D., Doyle of Millboro,, S. D., Mrs. Donna Fae VanMetre, and Mrs. Ellen Thomas of Springview, and mrs. Hazel Prentice of Fordon; 23 grandchildren and one great grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Alma Osburn of Valentine and mrs. Martha Sharp of Hot Springs, S. D.; one brother, Everett Haley of Millboro, S. D.; numerous nephews and nieces. and othe relatives.
