POCATELLO -- LaLue Virginia (Jernigan) Knutson, 87, a longtime Orofino resident, died Wednesday in Pocatello of causes related to age. She had lived in Pocatello for about a month. She was born Sept. 10, 1910, to Sanford Alzon and Mary Bell (Dixon) Jernigan in Dixonville, Ala.

She was married and widowed five times. Her husbands were Raymond C. Lewis (1928), Harmon W. Curtis [married 21 Apr 1938, Price, Carbon Co., Ut.], William D. Harrington [married 05 Feb. 1951, Salt Lake City, UT.], Elmer Petty (1955) and Theodore R. Knutson (1965).

She was an active member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She enjoyed cooking and loved flowers and her garden.

Survivors include two sons, John D. Curtis of Orofino and Charles S. Lewis of Salt Lake City; three daughters, Arvie L. Lewis of Orofino, Alice C. Minnick of Wasilla, Alaska, and Dorothy C. Rudd of Orem, Utah.; a brother, Raymond Jernigan in North Carolina; and 25 grandchildren.

Two brothers, an infant sister and a grandson died previously.

The funeral will be today at 1 p.m. at the Manning Wheatley Funeral Home in Pocatello. Another service will be held Monday at Pine Hills Funeral Chapel in Orofino. Visitation will be at 11 a.m. and the funeral will be at noon. Burial will at the Weseman Cemetery at Orofino.
