Funeral for A.D. Lewter Sr., 88, of Ardmore, Tenn., will be Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Ardmore Memorial Chapel with Bro. Carl Witty officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 4 to 7 at the funeral home.
Mr. Lewter, who died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008, at Sunbridge Care Center, was born Oct. 1, 1920, in Cash Point, Tenn., to Atha Deemer Lewter and Edna Boldin Lewter. He lived all his life in this area. He was a member of Holland Gin Church of Christ. He loved driving a truck. Mr. Lewter was a loving, kind and gentle man.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Mary Moran Lewter; three brothers, Clyde, Doodley and Bud Lewter; and one sister, Annie Pepper.
Survivors include one son, A.D. Lewter Jr. of Elkmont; three daughters, Betty McNeill and Faye Pritchard, both of Ardmore, and Dot Bragg of Decatur; two brothers, Tommy Lewter and Jimmy Lewter, both of Ardmore; four sisters, Annette Barnes of Ardmore, Marie Phelps of Bowling Green, Ky., Hazel Bowman of Nashville and Mary De Mauldin of Orlando, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
