Mr. Harry L. Akins

Young's Island - Mr. Harry L. Akins, of 4869 Slanns Island Road, Widower of Harriet Josephine Kirkland Akins, died Wednesday at his residence. He was 93.

Mr. Akins was born March 14, 1911, in Statesboro, GA a son of the late Lewis Hardy Akins and Bertha Barker Akins. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Walterboro and was a Mason. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 30 years of service. He was a Veteran of WW II.

Survivors include: a daughter, Helen A. Lowe of Sylvania, GA; two brothers, Euel Akins of Statesboro, GA and Floyd Akins of Garden City, GA; three granddaughters, Denise L. Avery of Sylvania, GA, Bonnie Watson of Gastonia, NC and Debbie Rhine of Moyock, NC; six great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.

Graveside Service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, directed by Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul St., Walterboro, SC.
