She was the daughter of Ellery Ellsworth "Junior" Ohnmeiss and Mavis (Renken) Ohnmeiss of Lampasas. She had lived in Hamilton until 1953 when the family moved to Lampasas. Susan graduated as valedictorian of the Lampasas High School Class of 1967. After attending Central Texas College in Killeen, she graduated from Tarleton State University with a major in European history and a minor in American history and English. She was recognized as the outstanding history student at Tarleton's parents' day in 1971. She returned to Tarleton to become certified in secondary education and elementary education. She taught second grade in the Lampasas Independent School District for 28 years. She is survived by her parents of Lampasas; two sisters, Mary E. (Ohnmeiss) Atherton, and Donna D. Ohnmeiss, one brother, John T. Ohnmeiss; one niece, Celia Sellars, a great-niece, Cheyenne Sellars; and a great-nephew, Wyatt. She was preceded in death by grandparents, Charlie Renken and Winnie Angermann Renken. Pallbearers were Mickey Edwards, Justin Squyres, Sam Potts, Joel Wayne Sellars, Woody Atherton and G.R. Stifflemire. Funeral services occurred on March 14 at 2 p.m. at Riley Funeral Home Chapel. Susan died at Rollins Brook Community Hospital in Lampasas. Her age was 54 years, 2 months, 24 days.
