Mary Jean Jones of North Miami died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008, at Miami Nursing Center after a long illness.
She was 78.
Mrs. Jones was born Oct. 4, 1930, in Grove to Bruce and Francis (Black) Phifer. She was a graduate of Grove High School, class of 1948. She graduated from Bartlesville Secretarial School in 1950.
She served as town clerk for North Miami for several years before retiring. She was a homemaker.
She married Albert L. Jones on Sept. 5, 1954, in Miami. He preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 1988.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
Survivors include one son, Damon Jones and his wife Ursula of Commerce; two daughters, Denise Watson of Commerce and DeAnna Chenoweth and her husband Tom of Welch; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Fairland Cemetery. Geoff Buffalo will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Thomas Funeral Home in Welch.
