Alva Ruth Donica, age 76, lifelong resident of Joplin, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008, at her home. Alva was born Jan. 11, 1932, in Joplin, daughter of the late Alvie Van Hoorebeke and Ruth Bernice Lloyd Van Hoorebeke. She graduated from Joplin High School, was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother and "Grammy", who enjoyed spending time gardening. In addition to her parents, Alva was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Donica who died in 1980. Survivors include four sons, Michael Donica and wife, Marilyn, of Anderson, Mo., Mark Donica and wife, Patti, of Joplin, Jeffery Donica and wife, Becky, of Joplin, and David Donica and wife, Debie, of Diamond; two daughters, Laurie Cole and husband, Kenneth, of Trenton, Ohio, and Laina Cameron, of Diamond; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be Wednesday, Oct. 15, at 2 p.m. in Forest Park Cemetery with Rev. John Mitchell officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Randy Ferguson, Danny Frossard, Jerry Musser, Marty Sweet, Bill Whitson and Greg Evans.
