Cornelius Westfall Sites was born in Washington County, Ohio, Feb 29, 1820; he came to Lawrence County, Ohio in 1825. His parents, Andrew and Elizabeth (Robins) Sites, were born in New Jersey; from there they emigrated to New Yoke and from there to Marietta, Washington County, Ohio, there they remained a short time, coming to Lawrence County in 1824, he died on Steel-Trap Creek, Windsor township; his wife died 1872; both of them were of the Baptist persuasion. C W Sites was married to Margaret Scott in Union township, March 19, 1840. She as born this county, April 8, 1821.

Their children are: John W Sites b Mar 13, 1841 d 1864; Matilda Sites (Russell) b April 3, 1843, resides in Union township; Martha A Sites (Christian b Mar 19, 1846 d May 13, 1869, leaving one son Albert Christian, who was born July 7, 1868; Sarah E Sites (Dillon) b Nov 23,1848, resides in Windsor township; Electa J Sites b June 27, 1851 , at home; Mary A Sites b Sept 8, 1859 resides at home; William S Sites born Nov 15, 1855 died Jan 6, 1865; Perry C Sites born April 3, 1858 d Nov 24, 1864 ; Emeretta Sites b Aug 20, 1861 d Dec 3, 1864; Laura Sites b May 1, 1864 resides at home. The parents of Mrs Sites were John and Martha (Templeton) Scott; both deceased; They were born in Virginia and emigrated to Lawrence County, at an early date; and settled in Union township. where they lived for some tine from there they moved to Indiana. They died near Smithland in Shelley.

She was a member of the Christian Church. Mr Sites has been trustee of Union
township three times . One son of Mr Sites was in the war of 1861; his name was John W Sites. He was a member of Company 1, 45th Kentucky mounted Infantry. He was taken prisoner and was held at Andersonville , until reduced so from starvation that he could not walk. After he was paroled he was removed to Annapolis, Maryland , where he died. He left a wife , Lida Langdon and one child to mourn his loss. Mr Sites connected himself with the Baptist Church in 1862 and has been a member of high standing ever since. His wife joined the Baptist Church about twelve years ago. Mr Sites is a trustee of the Missionary Baptist Church at Getaway. His family, with one exception, are members of some Christian Church. Mr Sites is engaged in farming and should be addressed at Russell’s Place , Lawrence County, Ohio. Now called Getaway.
