He married Helen A. Gerald on September 3, 1939, and the shared 61 years of togetherness.
For many years, he was a truck driver for several companies. He loved being with his family, enjoyed wildlife, gardening, bird watching, and was an avid sports fan.
Arthur was a 25-year member of Star in the West Masonic Lodge 85 in Unity.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 61 years, Helen A. Alexander of Sidney; two sons, Lynwood G. Alexander and his wife Marie of Unity, Arthur A. Alexander Jr. and his wife Colleen of Garrison, N.D.; two daughters Judith Trundy and her husband Gerald of Unity, and Brenda Drew and her husband Roger Jr. of Unity; a brother, Clayton Alexander and his wife Florence of Benton; two sisters-in-law, Nellie and Alice Alexander both of Benton; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and a cousin.
Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Chris and Craig Alexander, Scott and Todd Myrick, Rick Alexander and Gene Paquet; and honorary bearers will be Roger Drew, James Alexander, Paul Alexander, Gary Merrifield and Leroy Fowler.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Lawrence E. Alexander and LeBaron G. Alexander.
Visiting hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 23, at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home in Fairfield where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. John Wrigglesworth officiating. Spring burial will be made at Pond Cemetery, Unity.
