Rena Ione Atherton Portland, MI Rena Ione Atherton (Selden) began her spiritual journey on September 28, 1921. She finished her course and entered heaven on September 1, 2008. Her parents were Richard and Mabel Selden. She was the oldest of 6 children. Mildred Rose, her sister, preceded her in death. In May of 1948 Rena married Robert Atherton and they enjoyed 60 years together. A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 4, 2008 at the Portland Church of the Nazarene, 9465 Cutler Road, Portland with interment following at North Eagle Cemetery, Eagle, MI. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.
