Glenn A. Bancroft, 76, of Stuart, died of cancer Friday, Nov. 22, 2002, at Kavanagh House on Grand in West Des Moines.

Services were held Tuesday, Nov. 26, at United Methodist Church in Dexter, of which he was a member. Burial was in Union Cemetery in Guthrie Center.

Glenn Bancroft was born June 12, 1926, in Guthrie County, the son of Frederick and Hazel Tallman Bancroft. He had lived in Dexter and Des Moines before moving to Stuart four years ago. He was a retired supervisor with Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. in Des Moines, an Army Air Forces veteran and a member of the Lions Club. He had been a chairman with his church board and the Elderbridge Commission on Senior Citizens. He had received three Governor's Volunteer Awards for his work at Community Care Center in Stuart.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; two daughters, Glenda Hansen of Concord, Calif., and Marcia Bancroft of Avondale, Ariz.; two sons, Craig of Iowa City and Kevin of Manitou Springs, Colo.; eight stepchildren; three sisters, Norma Jean Wood and Marlene Bancroft, both of Des Moines, and Marjorie Wasson of Winter Park, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bette; and a brother, Laverne.
