Daniel Marion Atkinson,born Hickman County, Tennessee, 25 Oct 1836, died near Bennett, 16 Sept 1910. Married Elizabeth Caughron 30 Nov 1858. 9 children, all alive: Mrs. Victoria Chestnut, W.J. Atkinson, Mrs. Lou Grindstaff and Mrs. Laura Hanners, all in Ripley County, Mrs. Maggie L. Murphree, Checota, Texas, Hon John M. Atkinson (former Speaker(State)House of Representatives and now Assistant Attorney General, Jefferson City), Mrs. Annie Duncan, Ripley County, Charles W. Atkinson, Washington D.C., and D. Jeff Atkinson, Fort Fairfield, Maine. Came to county 1873, settling on Buffalo. Funeral to be at later date by Rev Newton Hinson of Tennessee, an old comrade from CW days-had served in Co.G, 20th Tenn.Cav(CSA) under Forrest. Buried in family cemetery near home.
