Eunice Myrtle Sams, 90, of Washington, W.Va., passed away April 16, 2011, at the Parkersburg Care and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born Aug. 21, 1920, in Wood County, the daughter of the late Waldo and Lettie Burgy Bibbee.

She had attended Washington United Methodist Church since 1945, where she was a member of the Washington United Methodist Women, volunteered in several church activities and was active with the Adult Upper Room Sunday School Class. She volunteered with the Washington Lions Club, several community activities and was a member of the CEOS, formerly known as the Washington Homemakers Club.

She is survived by one daughter, Violet Smith of Washington; her grandchildren, Debra D. Marks and Terry L. Smith, both of Washington; her great-grandchildren, Donald Marks III, Nickole Smith and Kimberly Smith, all of Washington; one great-great-granddaughter, Charlotte Faith Blair of Washington; one sister, Letha Wigal of Belleville, W.Va.; and her brothers, Ernest Bibbee of Mineral Wells, Vernon Bibbee of Parkersburg and Tom Bibbee of Washington.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Leonard Sams; her brothers, Ray Bibbee and Arthur Bibbee; and her sisters, Ruby Prunty and Stella Smith.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg with the Rev. David Calvert officiating. Burial will be in Lubeck Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Monday.

Memorial contributions may be made in Myrtle's name to Washington United Methodist Church on DuPont Road.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the Parkersburg Care and Rehabilitation Center and Dr. Jennifer Leavitt for all the kindness and care shown to Myrtle and the family.
