FORMER RESIDENT IS BURIED HERE WEDNESDAY
Funeral services were conducted last Wednesday, October 31, at the local Methodist Church for Mrs. Daisy Deen Smith, formerly of Rockwall. The Rev. C.D. Hurd of the Dallas Beacon Free Methodist Church, her pastor, conducted the service. He was assisted by the Rev.Ira Lowe, the Rev. B.F. Ferrell, and the Rev. Don Joy.
Mrs. Smith, affectionately known as "Aunt Daisy" was a resident of the Rockwall community until nine years ago when she moved to Oak Cliff in Dallas. Her husband, Jim Smith, preceded her in death in 1936. Two sons, Milton and Hugh, also died earlier.
Surviving children include James Smith of Arizona, Frances Cason of California, Charles Ray Smith of Dallas, Maureen Hargrove of Stephanville, C T Smith of California, Ima Jane Smith of California, Daisy Deen Ratcliff of Dallas, and George William Smith of the United States Navy.
Born in 1890, Mrs. Smith passed away suddenly, Sunday morning, October 28 at her home on Keist Boulevard in Dallas. Early in life she had been converted and united with the Free Methodist Church.
Since moving to Dallas she had been largely instrumental in the organization of the Beacon Free Methodist Church, of which she was a charter member. At the time of her passing she was the Class Leader of her church, a post she had held for several years.
Burial was in the Rockwall Cemetery with Dudley-Hughes funeral home in charge.

1)her son's name was misspelled as "Dugh", and I changed it to "Hugh"
2)I have been informed that her, and her daughter, Daisy, spell their middle names "Deen", but they were spelled "Dean" in the newspaper article
