Funeral services for Rosa Smith Griner will be at 10am Saturday, October 11, at First Nazarene Church, 105 East Fifth Street in Natchitoches, Louisiana with the Reverend Nathan Middleton, the Reverend Preston Smith and Jamie Westbrook officiating.

Graveside services will be at 1pm at Sycamore Cemetery in Burkeville, Texas, under the direction of Blanchard St. Denis Funeral home.

Visitation will be from 5-8pm Friday, October 10, at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home; and from 9am until service time, Saturday, October 11, at the church.

Mrs. Griner, 84, of Natchitoches, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008, at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center Long Term Care Unit. She was a native of Newton County, Texas. She was a lunchroom manager at Newton Independent School District. She was a member of the First Church of God Church from 1954-1993 in Newton. She moved to Natchitoches and became a member of the First Nazarene Church.

She was preceded in death by husband, Haywood Otto Griner; son, Haywood Aubrey Griner; five sisters, Mable Roach, Mable Lee Weaver, Veo Shaw, Sybil Smith and Sarah Jane Landenaux; two brothers, Guy Smith and Rufus Smith; parents, George Washington Smith and Rosa Elvira Ethridge Smith.

She is survived by one daughter, Wanda Lentz and husband David of Natchitoches; eight grandchildren, Delores Griner Jones, Stacy Carnline and husband Larry, Marc Westbrook and wife Michelle, James Westbrook and wife Kimberly, Andrew Westbrook and wife Shawn, Jon Lentz and wife Leah, Mark Lentz and wife Courtney, and Tony Lentz and wife Vicki; 15 great-grandchildren, Amber Griner Jones, Hank Jones, Shelly Smith Trammell and husband Shane, Sindi Smith, Ashley Westbrook, Kyle Westbrook, Kaitlyn Westbrook, Kendall Westbrook, Luke Westbrook, Andrew Rains, Benjamin Dewil, Willliam Dewil, P. J. Lentz, Hayden Lentz and Izik Lentz; one great-great-grandson, Brendan Wilson; two sisters, Mary Sears and husband Robert of Hillister, Texas, and Oda Hudgins and husband Charles of Orange, Texas.
