Harry Billings was born in North Eastern Missouri in a town called Wyconda, on August 31, 1879.

His family moved to Dover, KS after 1880. His father William bought a 160 acre farm near Dover in Shawnee County, KS in July of 1895.

Harry's father bought a 160 acre farm south of Willard KS for $3,000 in February 1896. In December 1899 William bought another 80 acres adjacent to his first parcel which gave him a total of 240 acres. This is the farm that Harry would inherit and remain in the family for years.

Harry and Florence Stevens were married on Christmas day 1899 in Valencia, Kansas. Florence lived on her father Charles Steven's farm just about 1 mile south from the Billings farm. The church, were they attended, West Union, was on the corner of the main road about ½ mile east of Harry's farm.

Harry and his father were both recorded in 1900 and 1910 census records living close together and even it has a note about them being partners in farming. Harry is also shown owning 160 acres in Shawnee County in 1913 East of his father's farm.

Harry's father William S Billings died on November 8, 1910 and William E. Billings, Harry's half brother, moved back into the area from living in S. Dakota.

Harry Billings inherited part of his father's Willard, KS farm with his half brother William E. Billings. Harry bought William's part for $3,300 in March 1914.

On Feb. 13, 1930, Harry bought the 80 acre part from his mother for $1. This was just a week before she died, (Feb 20, 1930).

Harry moved in with his brother-in-law Joe Stevens in an apartment above a filling station in Topeka. After retiring from farming, Harry gave his farm to his son Marvin and his wife Margaret in March 28, 1951. Harry worked at Seaman high school as a janitor in the late 40s. Harry died on Jan 25, 1961 at the age of 81 of heart disease in which he suffered for about 6 years.
