Johnnie Lloyd was born in Osage, Texas, to the late Richard and Mattie (Crawford) Adams. He grew up in the Turnersville community and attended school there. He was a veteran of World War II and recipient of the Purple Heart, Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, Combat Infantryman's Badge, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign ribbon, Philippines Liberation ribbon with Oak Leaf Cluster and Victory ribbon with three oversees bars.
On August 6, 1949, Lloyd married Maurine Landis of Iredell, Texas. He was a farmer and rancher in the Pearl Community for many years and retired from Coryell County Commissioner, Precinct 1 in 1986. Lloyd served on the Evant School Board for several years. He was a member and deacon of the Pearl Baptist Church and a former Sunday School superintendent.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Earl Adams, of Rising Star, Texas; and sister, Alma Clemons, of Crawford, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Maurine Adams, of Evant; daughters, Phyllis Barnes and husband, Monty, of Kempner, Texas, and Stacy Perez and husband, Ron, of Harker Heights; grandchildren, Bill Reneau, Bradley, Lexy, Justin and Lauren Perez; and nine great-grandchildren; and sister, Eunice Bankhead, of Gatesville.
