Dorothy Ghent Barton Clay died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2003.
Born on Dec. 21, 1921, in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Roland J. and Hattie Thompson Ghent.
She was a member of Augusta Heights Baptist Church for 57 years and was a teacher for the Special Christian's Sunday school class for many years.
She worked as a beautician for 70 years and was a member of the Eastern Star and the Senior B.A.L.L. Club.
She was predeceased by her husbands, Charles R. Clay Jr. and Dewey L. Barton; and two grandsons, Trez Dixon and Dewey Barton.
Surviving are five children, John Barton (Carlene), Dianne Barton Strickler (Robert), Harriette Barton Dixon, Becky Faulkner (Tom), and Richard Clay III (Nancy).
Also surviving are a brother, Frank Ghent, of Lancaster; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Augusta Heights Baptist Church. The family is at the home of Mrs. Clay. The Mackey Mortuary, Century Drive.
