H.E. HEMINGWAY DIES SATURDAY

Herbert E. Hemingway of 212 E. Oak Street, Ovid, died Saturday at the Ovid Nursing home after a three-week illness. He was 79.

Mr. Hemingway worked for many years at the Boys Vocational school in Lansing.

A native of Toronto, Mr. Hemingway was born Aug. 7, 1880, the son of Foster and Sarah Hemingway. He attended schools in Clinton county.

Most of his life he lived in Lansing, moving to Ovid six years ago. He married Matilda Rossow in Riley township in 1906. Mrs. Hemingway died in 1935.

He was a life member of the Lansing Free and Accepted Masons, No. 33 and formerly of the Wacousta Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include two daughters: Mrs. Kenneth Hartsuff, Ovida; Mrs. Earl Drexler, Shaftsburg; a brother, James of Long Beach, Calif. and six grandchildren.

Funeral Services were held Tuesday from the Houghton funeral home with Lansing Masonic Lodge No. 33 in charge of services. Rev. William Brown officiated. Burial was in Wacousta.

Although not mentioned in the obituary, records show that Herbert Hemingway was married on March 23, 1946 to someone named Ruth Van O.? I do not know what happened to Ruth.
