ST. PAUL, KS - Donald Eugene Baker, 62, of rural St. Paul, Kansas, died at 6:57 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, at Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. His death was unexpected.
He was born Jan. 26, 1943, in rural St. Paul, Kansas, to Olen R. and Bertha Rose (Franklin) Baker.
He was a lifelong resident of the St. Paul area. Graduating from high school.
He enlisted in the Army Reserves.
He married JoAnn Garrett on Oct. 9, 1970, in St. Paul. They later divorced.
He worked for Strauss Grain Elevators and later Hy Grade Construction Co. and Hardwood Products of St. Paul. He also raised cattle and farmed. He was currently working for Neosho County. He and his brother, Lee, won a Soil Conservation Award in 2000.
In addition to farming, he enjoyed spending time with his horses and dogs.
Survivors include a son, John O. Baker of Parsons, KS; a daughter, Tina South of Erie, KS; five granddaughters; three brothers, Lloyd Lee Baker and Jerry Baker, both of Parsons, KS, and Roy Baker of Caney, KS; and two sisters, Patsy Peterson of Parsons, KS, and Judy Yoho of Stark, KS.
He was preceded in death by a son, Raymond Eugene Baker, on July 29, 1990.
The service will be at Carson-Wall Funeral Home, Parsons, KS, with the Rev. Lance Peterson officiating. Burial will be in South Mound Cemetery, South Mound, Kansas.
Memorials to an educational fund established for Brooke Baker may be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
