Rose was the daughter of Arthur Edgar and Bessie Deane (Tucker) Tiley. She married Dennis Wade Moody in 1943 and they were the parents of four children: Dennis Wade Jr., Katherine Diane, Elizabeth Rose and Robert Hues.

MOUNT AIRY - Mrs. Rose Tilley Moody, 85, of Mount Airy, wife of Dennis W. Moody, died Monday, Feb. 6, 2006, at her home. Mrs. Moody was born April 16, 1920, in Surry County, the daughter of Judge A.E. and Bessie Tucker Tilley. Mrs. Moody was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who was devoted to her family's happiness and well-being. Mrs. Moody was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for many years. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Dennis W. Moody of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Win Thurber of Mobile, Ala.; and Libby and Ben Goins of Mooresville; a son and two daughters-in-law, Bob and Kathy Moody of Mount Airy and Carol Lee M. Cathey of Charlotte; 14 grandchildren, Darren Moody and his wife, Andrea, McCord Moody and his wife, Kerry, Tracey Moody, Alexa Cathey, Mary Esther Elliott and her husband, Bart, Winchester Thurber and his fiancee, Fran Battle, John Wade Thurber and his wife, Rebecca, Ben Goins Jr. and his wife, Emily, Nicole Childress and her husband, Daryl, Adam Stanfield, Anna Grey Stanfield, Nicole Moody, Meredith Moody and Wade Moody; five great-grandchildren, Rose Elliott, Barton Elliott, Elizabeth Elliott, Ella Claire Goins and Audrey Rose Childress; and a sister, Ruth Tilley Patterson of Daytona Beach, Fla. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Moody was preceded in death by her son, Dennis W. Moody Jr.; a granddaughter, Kimberly Moody; and two sisters, Louise Tilley Young and Grace Tilley. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at Moody Funeral Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be officiated by the Rev. Steve Lindsley and the Rev. Tom Bagnal, and burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, Feb. 8, at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
