Mr. Ralph Calvin Bowman, 71, of Ararat, Va, an orchardist died Wednesday at North Carolina Baptist Hospital, Winston-Salem, NC. Born August 10, 1920 in Surry County, he was the son of W.H. and Elsie Hiatt Bowman and a devoted member of the Mount Airy Friends Church. He moved to Ararat, Va, in 1920 where he resided until his death. Mr. Bowman was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Mrs. Icy Bowman Brown' and a brother, Canon Raymond Bowman Sr. Surviving are three nephews, Elbert Bowman Brown of Lynchburg, Virginia, Canon Raymond Bowman Jr. of Mebane, N.C. and William Patrick Bowman of Graham, N.C. and a number of cousins.
