Mrs. Ella Doss Ausburne, 97, of Surry Community Nursing Center, the widow of the late Thomas Ausburne, died Friday September 2, 1994 after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Ausburne was born April 28, 1897 in Surry County to the late Alex and Mary Francis Forrest Doss. She was a housewife and member of Haymore Memorial Baptist Church in Mount Airy. Surviving are two daughters and son-in-law, mrs. Betty Atkins and Mrs. Leroy (Pat) Collins, both of Mount Airy; one son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Gilda Ausburne of Summerfield; 12 grandchildren and 13 great granchildren. In addition to her husband Mrs. Ausburne was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Catherine Poore, and two sons, Robert Ausburne and Haywood Ausburne.
