James Aswegan, 69, of Parkersburg, died Thursday, Oct. 2, at Maple Manor Village, Aplington.

He was born Feb. 26, 1939, in Butler County, near Clarksville, son of David and Bessie Curtis Aswegen. On June 24, 1983, he married Marjorie Kathryn Luppen at the Christian Reformed Church, Parkersburg.

He served in the U.S. Marines from 1957 to 1959. Mr. Aswegen worked at John Deere, Waterloo, and later at Farmland Best. He also worked at the Waterloo Register and Unverferth in Shell Rock for a time

Survived by: his wife; and a sister, Dorothy (Lawrence) Graves of Dike.

Preceded in death by: a sister, Fran VanHorn.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Monday at Christian Reformed Church, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, both in Parkersburg. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home, Parkersburg, and for an hour before services Monday at the church.
