Laura was the daughter of George G. Lane and Mary Catherine Cummins. Laura's siblings were: Luella, Martin Alva, Loretta, Henrietta Francis, Harvey, Melvin J., Della, and Fred.

She married Edward S. Blair Mohler November 11, 1905 in Henry County, Ohio. Together, Laura and Edward had children: Frederick B., Frankin James, Mary Katherine, Beatrice B., and Dorothy Mae.

Laura lived in The Ohio Hospital For Epileptics from around 1929 until her death in 1955. On her death certificate, Dr. Samuel Bossard signed that he was her physician (at times) from July 1, 1929 until December 18, 1955. It also stated that she had convulsive disorder for 44 years. Her cause of death was heart disease.

It is unclear why her headstone reads Laura A. Mohler when she was known to family as Laura E. or Laura Etta.
