Aaron Rohrbach was the last surviving veteran of the War with Mexico in this area. He was greatly respected by all who knew him and his narration of incidents that he experienced in Mexico were very interesting. When the Mexican War broke out, he enlisted at Baltimore in Company C Third Artillery, serving 3 years at the rank of Corporal. He took an active part in the battles of Palo Alto, Resaca de la Palma, Monterey, and Buena Vista. It was at Buena Vista that he saw Santa Anna. He was honorably discharged on July 22, 1850 at Las Vegas, NM.
