Julia Allen was born December 15, 1842, in North Carolina, died at Kearney, Nebr., Aug 8, 1917. Married, Feb. 17, 1861, at Richland, Iowa, to William Lewis. Moved to Nebraska thirty-two years ago. She leaves to mourn her death a husband, three sons, Wesley, Allen, and Fred, five daughters, Mrs. Rosetta Stevenson, Mrs. Minnie Cox, Mrs. Eva Pringle, Mrs. Verle Baker and Mrs. Esta Moomey. One daughter Mrs. Ida Dawson, preceeded her to the better land. She was a woman of strong christian character and was ever a true helper to all who needed comfort or assistance. She was true to her church and was greatly loved by all who knew her.
For a few years she lived at Ansley and was a faithful and much esteemed member of the Baptist church of which church she was a member at the time of her death. Many can bear testamony to her christian character and useful life. In the early days she lived among the Quakers, and her gentle, peaceful and kind ways were largely due to the early influences of that devout people. She was buried at Kearney, Nebr. Contributed.
