Lucille Austin, age 92, of Sigurd, died on October 2, 2008 at the Richfield Care Center in Richfield, Utah.

She was born March 6, 1916 in Cornish, Utah, a daughter of Andrew Nicol and Etta Arvella Pratt Austin. As a young child, Lucille was in an accident that left her legally blind and with some permanent brain damage. She was unable to attend school. She lived at home until her step-mother passed away, then she was placed in the American Fork Training School. She lived there until after her brother, William and his wife, Venna's children were on their own and she asked to come live with them in Sigurd. They made arrangements and she lived with them for some 30 years. Bill passed away in 1993 and Lucille continued to live with Venna until she died in 1999. She then lived with Venna's son, Devon and Marilyn Nay for a few months until they realized they could not provide the care she needed. She was moved into the Richfield Care Center where she has lived for the past nine 1/2 years. The family is grateful for the patience and care she received while staying there and would like to thank the employees and staff of the care center for their care and concern for her well being.

Lucille is survived by her sisters, Ruth Roach of Salt Lake City; and Elzada Austin of Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews that have cared for Lucille during the past years. She was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers: LaPreal Gettins, June Smith, Kenneth Austin, Elon Austin, Tommy Austin and William "Bill" Austin.

Graveside Services will be held on Monday, October 6, 2008 at 2 p.m. in the Sigurd Cemetery. Friends may call for a viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield on Monday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to the services.
