JOE 'DERR' HARDESTY
DIES IN NURSING HOME
Joe "Derr" Hardesty of Jessup, age 91, died at 11:30 a.m. Sunday at the Parke County Nursing Home.
Survivors include two half brothers, Forrest of Jasonville, and Guy of Worthington, and a half sister, Mrs. Sue Stone of Indianapolis.
The body was taken to the Cottrell Funeral Home at Rosedale, where last rites were held Wednesday afternoon. The Rev. John Hopkins officiated and burial was in Forks of the Creek Cemetery.
NOTE: It is believed; Joel B. Hardesty was placed in the home of Benjamin & Mary Derr upon the death of his mother from child birth and his name changed to Joseph Derr. Hence, the finding of several records with either Joe D. Hardesty or simply Joe Derr with birth and death dates matching.
