on Federal census i have seen his first name as MELTON. On family records on Rootsweb I have seen it as Matthew.
He married 1868 in Newton co, Ar to SARAH ELIZABETH HENDERSON, they had 10 children:( actually Federal Census states in 1900 that Sarah had 13 children born and only 10 alive in 1900)
