Pearl Allen Schuler Akers

Pearl Allen Schuler Akers, Tucson, Ariz., died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001, at her residence.

She was born March 17, 1907, in East Chicago to Nellie Youngren and Anders Gustaf Allen. A former teacher in the Hammond public school system, she was active in numerous community activities and a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Tucson.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Alvin John Schuler, who died in 1965; her second husband, Richard P. Akers, who died in 1991; and one son, Paul Alvin Schuler.

Survivors include two daughters, Karen Schuler Rowley, Brookhaven, N.Y., and Jane Schuler-Repp, Pristina, Kosovo; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Andrews Presbyterian Church music fund. The Bring Memorial Chapel, Tucson, is in charge of arrangements.

NOTE: The dates on this cenotaph stone are the years Richard and Pearl were married - 1972 to 1991. Pearl is not actually buried here.
