Mrs. Bailey is Taken by Death; Funeral is Held

Mrs. Sallie Driskill Bailey, 80, wife of Henry David (Uncle Bud) Bailey, of 114 Phifer Street, died about 4:05 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Cherokee County Memorial Hospital. She had been ill for the past month.

A lifelong resident of Cherokee county Mrs. Bailey was a member of the Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church.

Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the Draytonville Baptist Church. The Rev. C. E. Hampton, of Cherokee Avenue, the Rev. Jesse M. Hill, of Greenville, the Rev. L.N. Epley and the Rev. Ray Maynor officiated. Interment was in the Draytonville cemetery with the Shuford-Hatcher Company morticians, in charge.

The pall bearers were Carl Blanton Jr., Kenneth Bailey, J.C. Moore, Larry Sanders, J. B. Tillson and Everett Horne.

In addition to her husband Mrs. Bailey is survived by seven daughters, Mrs. June Horne of Spartanburg, Mrs. A.R. Tilson of Greenville, Mrs. Inez Miller of Kings Mountain, Mrs. D.L. White of Kings Mountain, Mrs. Cleve Moore of Kings Mountain, Mrs. J. F. Sanders of Pelzer, Mrs. J.T. Rogers of Chattanoga, Tenn.; two sons, Alfred Bailey of Gaffney, and Grady Bailey of Cowpens; 47 grandchildren, 70 great grandchildren and one great-great grand child; one brother Roland Driskill of Gaffney; one sister Mrs. Lena Holmes of Gaffney.
