Margaret Anna Block, 91, of Tripoli, died Saturday, Sept. 27, at Tripoli Nursing Home of natural causes.

She was born Sept. 1, 1917, in Bremer County, daughter of William and Emma Bahlmann Grebien. She married Paul Edward Block on Nov. 25, 1937, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church-Siegel, rural Tripoli. He died Sept. 27, 1981.

Mrs. Block graduated from Tripoli High School in 1936. She and her husband farmed southeast of Tripoli for many years. She also was a cook at Tripoli Community Schools for several years, retiring in 1979, and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.

Survived by: five daughters, Ruth Smith of Frisco, Texas, Linda Hughes of Tripoli, Lois (Jerry) Pitz of Oelwein, LuAnn (Dennis) Weitzenkamp of Plainfield and Rebecca (Mark) Smith of Fall River, Wis.; three sons, Roger of Tripoli, Virgil (Karen) of Waterloo and Steven (Jennifer) of Waukee; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: a son, Leonard; an infant grandson; an infant great-grandson; and a sister, Geneva Tessmer.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church, Tripoli, with burial in the church cemetery. Public visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Rettig Funeral Home, Tripoli, and for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.
