Dorothy Jeanette Cady Nollsch, 83, of Rapid City, died on Tues., Feb. 5, 2008 at a local nursing home.
Dorothy was born June 27, 1924 in Newcastle, WY, the daughter of the late Jesse and Genevieve Cady. As a child they moved to Dewey, SD. It was there she developed her interest in music by first taking piano lessons, then Spanish and Hawaiian guitar, banjo, violin and accordion.

Later the family moved to Rapid City where Dorothy attended high school, graduating in 1942. During WWII she was employed by Buckingham Transportation as a bookkeeper and corresponded with Harry Nollsch, her future husband.

Dorothy married Harry on Jan. 24, 1947. They both graduated from North Central Bible Institute in Minneapolis. They pastored churches in Custer, Redwing, MN and Rochester, NY.

While pastoring in Custer they had a son, Stephen who only lived a few days. They took in foster children before adopting Damaris and Daniel from Korea in 1959. Dorothy was a loving, caring mother, wife and grandmother, demonstrating her love to all her family.

As a lay ministers wife she traveled with Harry, assisting with music and singing, ministering in nursing homes and to shut-ins. After returning to Rapid City in 1994, they continued ministering regularly in nursing homes.

In her golden years Dorothy began taking organ lessons and joined the Canyon Lake Senior Writers Group. Besides her love for music Dorothy also loved the Word of God, spending many hours reading and meditating on it. Dorothy loved to talk to people and enjoyed learning about their lives.

Survivors include one daughter, Damaris Lynch, granddaughters Jennifer and Jessica, all of Port Orange, FL; two sons, Daniel Nollsch, his wife Deborah, granddaughters Julie and Stephanie, grandsons Joseph and Steven, all of Rapid City, and son Charles Nollsch of San Bernardino, CA.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harry, infant son Stephen, brothers Duane and Kenneth Cady, half brother Vernon, three half sisters, Florence, Annette and Lillian Cady.
