...long prominent in Oregon church and educational circles died at home in Dallas.... He entered the Evangelical ministry in 1877. He was married to Emma Wehn at Johnstown, March 31 1880 and left immediately for a remote district in the mountains of West Virginia where he had been assigned. This work was among the poor hill folks and his first year's salary was $130.00. In 1891... came to Oregon as a missionary of the Evangelical church. He held pastorates at Corvallis, St. Johns, Dayton and Buena Vista before coming to Dallas in 1904... He was prominent in his church as a theologian and was instructor in Ethics and psychology in Dallas college for several years. He had also served on the faculty of the Lafayette seminary. He was largely self-educated but a highly cultured and well read man. He had maraked musical talent. He was a poet of considerable ability and had contributed extensively both prose and verse to the religious press. On March of this year he and Mrs. Ballantyne celebrated their golden wedding anniversay and entire family of seven children were present. He leaves a large circle of friends throughout the state.
