Wife of J. David McFarland. Pheby's death is likely the result of complications following her having given birth to twins a few weeks earlier. David and Pheby were married in Cass County in 1854. They moved to Vernon County shortly after the Civil War about 1866. They were in nearby Virgil City in Vernon County at the time of Pheby's death. She gave birth to 13 children. All but 5 lived beyond infancy. The other 8 married and had children of their own.
