Last Rites Held Friday for Julia Edwards
Funeral services for Mrs. Julia Edwards were held Friday afternoon in the Bouton Funeral home with Rev. Arnold Daizell in charge of the services. Burial was in the Princeville cemetery.
Julia Etta, daughter of Fred Boliver and Amy Reeves Blanchard, was born in Princeville, January 2, 1864 and died in the home of a daughter July 6 in Champaign.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. She was united in marriage November 18, 1881 to Archibald D. Edwards and had made her home all her life in Princeville until the death of her husband in 1922. Six children were born to their union, Forrest G., Thomas L., Louis Faye, Oliver Delwin, Any Margueritte and Ellen Claire all of whom survive except Oliver Delwin, who died in October 1948.
Mrs. Edwards attended Valpariso Normal college and taught school in the Princeville community until her marriage. She was a charter member of the School Improvement society, which was a fore runner of the Parent Teacher Association. She was a member of the Presbyterian church and while unable to attend services she listened regularly to the radio service.
She was devoted to her home, school and church and was a most public spirited women and her home was always open for any worthwhile activity and was a gathering place fro all Princeville children.
Mrs. Edwards had been in failing health and had been confined to her bed since April 9.
Besides her children she is also survived by eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
