Shirley Mae (Jones) Dietrich passed away in Klamath Falls Saturday, September 27, 2008. She was 98.

Shirley was born August 15, 1910, in Crescent City, Calif., to Walter and Nellie Mae (Butler) Jones. She grew up in California and Alaska, where her father worked for the U.S. Forest Service and had a fishing boat. Shirley then moved to Rogue River, Ore., where her family owned a pear orchard. She also drove truck at Camp White. She married Ashley Leo Hug; that marriage ended in divorce. She later married Ed Jones in 1947, with the marriage also ending in divorce. In 1952, Shirley married Vernon Dietrich in Tacoma, Wash. They later moved to Klamath Falls where they enjoyed dancing at the Senior Center. Shirley also enjoyed working with ceramics and was an excellent seamstress.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Paul R. and Mary Ann Hug, of Klamath Falls; and grandchildren, Casey R. Hug of Portland, Heidi R. Brennan of Klamath Falls, Wendy R. Tanner of Olympia, Brent R. Lewis of Klamath Falls and Paula R. Duman of Kent, Wash. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon, in 2001 and a brother, Austin Jones.
