Funeral Services Held For
Pioneer Grady Woman

     Mrs. Martha E. Martin passed away at a rest home in Oklahoma City. Mrs. Martin is the mother of William Martin of the Hazel Dell community. She was a pioneer of Grady County, having settled here in the early days.
     Martha Elizabeth Bilby was born Sept. 1857 at Winston, Salem, N.C. and departed this life Aug. 18, 1944 at the age of 86 years 11 months and 7 days. In 1875 she was united in marriage to Wm. Hardin Martin who preceded her in death Jan 15, 1913. To this union was born three children, one son and two daughters.
     Grandma Martin (as she was loving called by all who know her) gave her life to the Lord at an early age. She united with the Methodist church and later wit the Christian Church. She was a devoted Christian and always had a word of encouragement to all.
     She leaves to mourn her passing, one daughter, Mrs. A.C. Carlson, Minneapolis, Minn. And her son W.C. Martin, Cogar, 3 brothers, Rufus Walter and Luther Bilby, one sister, Mrs. Hoova McGee, Anthony, Kans. Three grandchildren, Marguerite Pinkston, EL Reno, Louise Peavler of Seminole, and Gladys Daggs, of Blackwell. Six great grandchildren and a host of other relatives.
     Funeral services were conducted at the Quayle Funeral Home Sunday afternoon by Rev. J.J. McDaniel. Music was furnished by a trio composed of Misses Marylin and Patricia Woodworth and Jean Wall with Rosemary Wegener at the piano. Songs were "We'll Never Say Goodbye In Heaven," "No Night There," and "What a Friend We Have In Jesus. Pallbearers were H.S. McDaniel, Ray Smith, A.E. Willis, D.F. Rowe.
     She was laid to rest in the Hazel Dell cemetery by the side of her husband.
