Reed B. Argyle 1928 ~ 2005

Reed Betts Argyle, our loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully in his home Friday, May 13, 2005 at the age of 77.

Born May 9, 1928 in Payson, Utah the son of Ivan and Venetta Betts Argyle. He married Gladys Haskell November 2, 1950; she preceded him in death. He later married Dorothy Bearnson July 11, 1969 in the Salt Lake Temple. They made their home in Payson where they have resided for 36 years.

Dad served in the Navy during World War II. He worked as an Air Traffic Controller in Kansas City; a silver mine in Butte, Montana; with Geneva Steel for many years; and retired as a Superintendent of US Postal Operations. Reed was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a ward/stake financial clerk more than 30 years and enjoyed giving service to many. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, and had a passion for flying. He loved being surrounded by family and carrying on family traditions.

Reed is survived by his wife, Dorothy of 36 years; his children, Joy Argyle Jasperson, Shaun Argyle, Edward Bearnson, and Karen (Kevin) Harward; seven grandchildren; brothers, Jack and Howard Argyle; sister, La-Verne Larsen; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gladys Haskell Argyle; and his sister, Lillian Irick. Dad was cherished by all who knew him. He will be forever remembered for his love of family and his kind spirit.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m. at the Payson Mountain View Stake Center, 600 East 75 South, where family and friends may visit Tuesday, 6-8 p.m., and again Wednesday, 10-10:45 a.m. Interment will follow in the Payson City Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home.
