Caleb Blodgett was the son Caleb Blodgett, a Revolutionary War Soldier and his wife Charity Wallbridge. He was the first permanent settler of Beloit, Wisconsin. Caleb named the city New Albany but it was later changed to Beloit. Caleb built the first log cabin and was a contractor for many other buildings in Beloit including the first hotel. Caleb married Chloe Kidder and was the father of ten children. The first church services in Beloit were held in the cabin of Caleb and Chloe Blodgett. Caleb's grave is marked by a bronze marker placed in 1931 by the D.A.R.
